Crazy Hazy Days of Summer!

Well, the weather in Calgary has been a bit on the unpredictable side but we are still making the most of our summer months. Life has been busy, busy, busy.

The old deck is gone and has been replaced by a beautiful new one. The kids really like to be out there and Liam likes that you don't have to wear shoes because our new deck "won't give you slithers." We still have some work to do in moving the shed so while I thank all our friends and family for their hard work on the deck, I invite them back for the 'heave ho!' of the shed!

We have been busy going to the zoo, the beach, the waterpark, every park we can get to and just outside playing. Everyone loves the sprinkler, the bubbles, watering the flowers, digging in the dirt and of course the favourite evening of cutting the grass with Daddy. Both kids have their lawn mowers out and a garbage bag tucked in their pockets. It's very cute!

We have a few weeks left of ice cream, sunscreen, later nights and endless fun. Then it will back to school and a busy but different routine.

Here's some of our best shots of the summer. Take Care.

Happy Summer!

I can't believe I haven't updated this since February.....who am I kidding, of course I can believe it!!!

Life continues to be busy around here but at least we aren't bored. Liam has finished his first year of preschool and loved it! I have posted his last day of school picture. They celebrated with ice cream at school. We are looking forward to the break from school commitments but I am sure we will be craving them come August. Liam also played soccer this spring. It's interesting to watch the Under 4 league......Liam was the best pinecone picker and struggled to not stop the ball with his hands. He told me that next year, he wants to be a goalie.

Julia is growing bigger and bolder each day. She still isn't saying much but does manage "bubble" and "da-da" every once in a while. Her lack of words does not prevent her from letting you know what she wants and doesn't want...she is pretty clear!

Both kids are enjoying outside. The playhouse is a favourite spot and of course the kids are drawn to water like moths to a flame!! We have been to the beach a couple of times and the combination of sand and water provides hours of fun. We hope to spend lots of time there.

The deck build is underway. The holes are dug, the sod removed and the materials ordered. Michael has a week off coming up so we hope to get most of it done then.

Here's a few recent pictures of kids and yard. We hope everyone has a safe & happy summer!!!

Spring? Winter?......Calgary!!!

Well, Julia had a great birthday. We had a cake and gifts with Nana on the actual birthday and then a party on the weekend. Julia loved being the centre of attention at the party and got some great toys which are still providing hours of entertainment. She enjoyed both of her cakes as well.

Since then, life is pretty basic around here. Julia still isn't walking and isn't getting much braver at it either. She is eating a bit better now that we aren't giving her a special meal. She eats exactly what we eat and that pleases her. She is getting very good at drinking from a cup now.

Daddy has officially lost his first hat to Liam. He decided we should tighten it to make smaller and it fits him well. I have included a picture of his pride!!! Liam is enjoying the outdoors as much as he can. He is loving the large puddle at the end of our driveway and thanks to the very quiet cul-de-sac we live on, he can safely go out there to play in it. We took Julia out in her rubber boots today and Liam was teaching her how to splash. As a result, the 3 of us were soaking wet but well worth it!!!

Last night we went out in the snow to BBQ. All 4 of us took a turn at catching snowflakes on our tongues. So, winter last night, spring today....good ol' Calgary.

I thought I would post some new pictures of Julia's birthday and our outdoor fun. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday, Julia!!!!

I can't believe that the last time I updated this it is was October. I have fallen that far behind in all my journaling and memory keeping activities. Christmas and New Year's was a blur of activity and 2008 shows no signs of slowing down.

We have had our fair share of illness for cold and flu season so we are anxiously waiting for warmer weather and more time outdoors.

Julia is not walking yet but getting a little closer to it each day. She has starting pointing and grunting at differnet things when she wants you to look at them or get them for her. She knows how to find her tummy (and Mommy's, too!) She loves to dance to music, climb the stairs and attempt to climb into the dishwasher. She still doesn't eat very much but doesn't look like she's starving at all. She sports 7 teeth in total, 4 on top and 3 on the bottom and loves to hear the cheerios crunch under them.

Liam has been one sick little boy with 3 colds and 2 tummy bugs since Novemeber. It hardly seems fair to him. He has grown significantly since my last entry and grown out of most of his clothes. He is a very tall boy. He has starting taking an interest in writing and can write the letter "L" now. He knows how to spell his name and is learning to recognize a few letters here and there. He has really been enjoying the lego blocks for the past few weeks and has build a crane, a periscope, a train and a camera with them. Unfortunately, there often fall to the destructive power of Julia.

Julia is 1 now. It's hard to believe. The year has gone so quickly. Here are some pictures of our life for the last few months. Enjoy and take care.
